La Liga Giants Make Transfer Stance Clear As United Identify Their ‘New Ronaldo’ With 277M Release Clause

Atletico Madrid won’t be selling Joao Felix for below his €300m (£277m) release clause, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish newspaper was reacting to reports in the UK that Manchester United were considering a move for the Portuguese international as a potential alternative to Jadon Sancho.

Mundo Deportivo claim that despite the Red Devils identifying the 20-year-old as their “new Cristiano”, referring of course to their previous Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Felix will not be moving clubs any time soon.

As well as his high buyout fee, the striker has a contract until 2026 so Atletico are pretty much in the perfect position to keep hold of him. While United do have a good relationship with his agent, Jorge Mendes, after signing another one of his clients, Bruno Fernandes, it is not believed this will have an influence on negotiations.

Felix has also been linked with Manchester City in the past, but it looks almost certain that both United and their rivals will have to look at other targets.
