Kane Focused On Spurs

Manchester United were definitely in the market for a new striker during the summer transfer window after the club allowed Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez to leave. Despite signing Anthony Martial on deadline day, it seemed as if the Red Devils were in for a strike more close to home whilst the window was in full swing.

Harry Kane made a name for himself in the 2014/15 season after scoring a massive 31 goals for Spurs. He was also voted the PFA Young Player of the Year. The youngster also earned an England call-up for his displays, scoring 79 seconds into his international debut. He is now an established international and is set to play alongside Rooney in this month’s Euro Qualifiers. United were said to be readying a £40m bid for the Englishman, but this never materialised. Now, Kane has insisted on his desire to stay at Spurs.

“I am a Tottenham boy,” said Kane. “I have grown up with the club.”

“I know the club and I love the club. We have got a great team, a young team that is only going to get better and better.”

“I am happy. I am happy to be playing.”

“That is the most important thing for me this season to be playing week in week out and getting game time. We have a great manager and staff at Spurs and I can really see us just pushing on.”

“I am excited for the future. A new stadium as well.”

“Everything just seems to be going in the right direction so I am excited.”

Louis van Gaal probably scouted Kane due to the prospect of the 22-year-old playing up-front with fellow countryman Wayne Rooney, a player who is close to becoming England’s all-time top scorer, and Kane is a big fan of United’s No.10.

“He is an incredible talent.” said the Tottenham striker. “He is a world class player and he trains very hard to be where he is now.”

“He has still got many more years to come so he has got a great opportunity of getting quite a few more and it’ll be great for the nation if he does.”

Rooney could overtake Charlton to become United’s all-time top scorer, he needs just one goal against San Marino to equalise Charlton’s record of 49.

Kane added: “Everyone is excited for him. I am sure he wants to get it done as soon as possible.”
