Manchester United are tracking Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare but they have not contacted his club to register their interest in the France Under 21 international, according to RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi:
No talks currently ongoing between Manchester United, Lille & Boubakary #Soumaré, but the Red Devils have been tracking the player.

Reports in recent days have suggested that the Red Devils may step up their pursuit in the 21-year-old but it appears that no bid is imminent. Fans on Twitter are not happy that the Manchester club are stalling in their attempts to sign the midfielder:
Just sign him

Should've signed him in 2019 already…

He’s a classic 4. Will replace Matic, sit as a lone, capable defensive midfielder and allow Bruno and Van de beek to flourish. We have no one like him.

Monitoring FC back again 😴😴

Don't worry lads, we'll sign him when he's 28 and worth 80 mil

United likely have a number of other central midfielders on their shortlist of transfer targets and it may be the case that Soumare is simply not a priority at the moment.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have been heavily linked with the Frenchman over the last year, with reports in the last January transfer window suggesting that Chelsea and United were set to battle it out for the player. It turned out that neither team were prepared to make a formal offer at the time and it seems unlikely that Soumare will move to Old Trafford this month either.
