Journalist Refutes Claim That Second Serie A Side Will Try To Lure Pogba Away From United

Inter Milan will not be involved in the battle to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, according to ESPN’s Julian Laurens.

There has been speculation in the Italian media that the Nerazzurri could join Juventus in trying to sign the France international when the transfer window reopens but Laurens doesn’t believe they will have the money to convince the Red Devils into selling up:

“I’m not buying this at all. Although the reunion between himself and Conte – who was an influence on his career at Juve – could be an idea, there’s no way Inter will go for him. I don’t think Inter will be able to afford him anyway.”

It does appear that Juve do not have the cash to sign Pogba either, with the Serie A club said to be hoping to use players in a swap deal.

The likes of Aaron Ramsey, Alex Sandro, Douglas Costa, Miralem Pjanic and Federico Bernardeschi have all been suggested as possible makeweights but United are unlikely to want any of them.

Especially in the current market, selling a player of the quality of Pogba now would not be financially prudent. The best time would likely be next summer when prices have rebounded, and the Frenchman is closer to the end of his contract.
