Journalist Claims United Have Held “Informal Talks” About Signing 23M Rated Polish International

Manchester United are one of five clubs who have held discussions about signing Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, according to journalist Ciro Venerato. Speaking on Italian radio, the reporter claimed that the Red Devils had joined the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham in pursuing the Polish international.

“An intermediary told me that there’s informal talks with Leipzig, Manchester City, Manchester United, Fulham and Tottenham. The latter are the most reliable track, but the formula requested by Napoli does not convince Mourinho.”

Roma reportedly agreed a €25m (£23m) fee with Napoli for the 26-year-old before withdrawing their interest in the player. Subsequent speculation has linked him with a move to the Premier League instead.

United could do with having a better backup to Anthony Martial with Odion Ighalo having struggled for form following a bright start to his loan spell at Old Trafford.

It’s unlikely to be a priority before deadline day, though, with the Manchester club said to be keen on bringing in a left-back as well as a right-winger. Porto’s Alex Telles and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho remain the two primary targets at the moment.
