Journalist Claims Argentinian Ace Would “Love” PL Switch Following Reports That United Have Made Contact With Agent

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez would “love” to join a Premier League club, although a move to Manchester United may not be on the cards, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Reports in Italy a couple of weeks ago had suggested that the Red Devils had been in contact with the Argentinian international’s agent but, while the forward may be keen on a switch to England, Jones has played down the chances that he will end up at Old Trafford:

“I just don’t think Lautaro Martinez fits what they’re looking for in terms of a centre-forward. I know for a fact that he would love to play in England, but I just don’t know if United is the right place for him to do that.”

Martinez has been linked with a number of Premier League teams over the past twelve months or so. The likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham have been mentioned as potential suitors in addition to United.

Manager Erik ten Hag will definitely need to recruit a new number nine either in January or at the end of the season, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club increasingly uncertain. We shall see if Martinez emerges as a key target.
