Jose To Sell Players….But Who?

Jose To Sell Players….But Who?

Earlier this week a report surfaced that new Manchester Utd manager Jose Mourinho would be looking at clearing the deadwood and undertaking a much needed overhaul of the United squad.
We take a quick look at the players who futures could be in doubt and who could be on their way out of the Old Trafford door.

Sam Johnstone
Playing time will be limited for the young keeper, and the emergence of Joel Pereira means we can afford to let him go. A Championship team will snap him up and he could go on to do a “Tom Heaton” and establish himself as a No.1 elsewhere.

Ashley Young
Time has come to end Youngs Utd career. Will always be remembered for his performance in that 8-2 mauling of Arsenal. His Olympic quality diving aside, has been the only decent crosser at the club. We try not to mention when LVG played him at centre forward???? Maybe a return to Watford could be on the cards?

Antonio Valencia
Has proven himself inadequate in both defence and attack. A worse crosser of a ball i have yet to see. Not really a square peg in a round hole more of a triangular peg with no hole. The fact he has never learnt English tells you a huge amount about his aptitude. Would suit a team like Everton or West Brom, anywhere away from Manchester!!

Phil Jones
Heralded as the modern Duncan Edwards when he arrived, more like Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards! Injury prone and lack of fitness has ended what could have been a promising Utd career. Will find his level in the middle of the Premier League. Hopefully he never takes another corner in his life!!!

Guillermo Varela
Classed as a youngster even though he is 23, his lack of defensive ability will not sit well with Mourinho. Never really got the chance to prove himself on a consistent basis and Spain or Italy would be a better match for his playing style.

Tyler Blackett
United’s forgotten man. We may have to send out a search party to find his hideaway in Glasgow. Hardly featured for Celtic on loan last season and with better players ahead of him, it would be best to try his luck elsewhere. Championship bound!!

Daley Blind
The Dutch utility man is rumoured to be one of the first out the door. Mourinho is unlikely to play him at centre back or in midfield leaving him with limited starting opportunities. His close family connections to LVG will worry Mourinho who demands total loyalty. He is the Dutch national captain so finding him a club shouldn’t be hard.

Matteo Darmian
The Italian only joined United last summer from Torino, but having failed to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League is likely to be on his way. Maybe we could us him as part of any deal involving Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

Marouane Fellaini
A panic buy post Fergie and a player that splits opinion. Love him or hate him “Groot” your time is up. Italian teams should be queuing up for his signature and if any serious bid is made we should snap their hands off!!!!!

Juan Mata
Flashes of brilliance in a poor Utd team. Will be missed by many supporters (including me!) but with his history with Mourinho a move back to Spain seems likely. At least he wont spend time looking lost on the right wing.

Jesse Lingard
The scorer of the winner that bought the FA cup back to Old Trafford. Has emerged an useful squad player with decent pace, he has failed to impress me and with the quality being bought in he will be relegated to nothing more than a fringe player. A move to a top 10 team like West Ham will see him get plenty of action.

Wayne Rooney
An argument could be made for keeping the captain and moving him deeper into midfield. It is my opinion that time is up on his Utd career. Not only has he asked for a transfer TWICE in his Old Trafford career he looks off the pace and will surely decline over the next few years. With a big offer from China likely to be on the table it could be the right time to shed his huge wage. Plus Sir Bobby keeps his goal scoring record. Jose is a huge fan though so doubtful.

Will Keane
At 23, he is just not good enough. If he was he would have made more 1st team apperances. Has failed to impress even when out on loan and as he is out of contract in the summer a free transfer beckons.

Nick Powell
Arrived as a talented teenager injuries and attitude have prevented him from progressing. With his contract up in the summer the Championship is his likeliest destination.

Adnan Januzaj
Really torn with this but with the expected summer signings, he would struggle to get anywhere near the team. He needs a run of games to build up confidence and that is not going to be available. Would do well for Ajax or similar. United need to ensure a buy back clause just in case the youngster regains his confidence and goes on to fulfil his potential.

Hopefully the money men at United have learnt from previous mistakes, every player has a value and its important we don’t undersell players. Players like Rooney, Fellaini, and Mata are established international players who commanded huge fees when joining us. It would make sense to try and use these players in swap deals. Januzaj & Young for Mahrez anyone?

Who do you think we should let go and why.
