Jose Mourinho hints he will not let Anthony Martial leave Manchester United this summer

Jose Mourinho has hinted that he will not let Anthony Martial leave Manchester United this summer following a claim from the forward’s agent he wants to quit the club.

Martial fell out-of-favour with Mourinho after the arrival of Alexis Sanchez last season, making just eight starts in all competitions after the New Year.

And following his lack of game time, Martial’s agent, Philippe Lamboley, says the 22-year-old wants to leave Old Trafford for pasture’s new.

However Mourinho has hinted that won’t be happening, saying that the Frenchman’s future does not lie in his own hands.

When questioned about Martial’s desire to leave the club, Mourinho said: “I would like to be in Los Angeles now and I am in San Jose, you cannot do whatever you want in life,” said the Portuguese coach.

“I would love to arrive in L.A., to train in L.A. and play all my five matches in L.A., and then don’t travel, don’t change hotel and then go back to Manchester.

“I would like to play against Leicester [on the opening weekend of the Premier League season] on Sunday but I have to play on Friday, so you don’t get always in life what you want.”

Martial joined United in the summer of 2015 from AS Monaco, and has since scored 36 times in 136 appearances for the Red Devils.
