Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has been singing the praises of summer signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The defender was signed from Crystal Palace for £50m in July and has had a good start to life at Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old is a superb tackler and has already shown his abilities as a defender during his short time at the club. Training alongside him, Mata says it’s clear that Wan-Bissaka is a player with massive potential:
“He’s very, very good in defensive duties, very good in tackling. I’ve never seen any player like him, he’s unbelievable. Even in training, you think you’re past him and then he comes and takes the ball straight. He has very long legs! I can only see him improving.”
Wan-Bissaka is certainly one of the best one-on-one defenders in the country. The “spider” has an incredible ability to take the ball off his opponents and regularly gets the better of wingers.
There are still some improvements to be made, though. Modern fullbacks also have to be very good in the final third of the pitch, and the England Under 21 international will be keen to improve his final ball as well as his overall game as an attacker.
