Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to reports in the French media.
It had been claimed in the English press that an agreement was close but it seems that the France international is now ready to sign a contract with the Red Devils.
Supporters on Twitter are optimistic about this latest development, although some are frustrated with the slow progress that has been made to get Varane in through the door at Carrington:

Heard this for 84 years now. We probably reached a contractual agreement behind doors even when we tried to sign him earlier before Zidane changed his mind and he went to Madrid.. pic.twitter.com/S3p6NsUnnb

They don’t sell they lose the player for nothing next year, it makes 100% sense for them to sell.

It should be pointed out that United have still not agreed a transfer fee with Real Madrid for the 28-year-old so negotiations could well continue for a while longer yet.
Chelsea and Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in Varane, along with Paris Saint-Germain, but it seems he will be moving to Old Trafford this summer, as long as the deal does not stall over the centre-back’s price tag.
