“It’s Criminal” Paul Scholes Tears Into United Star For Something He Did In Leipzig Loss

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has heavily criticised David De Gea for his part in RB Leipzig’s third goal last night.

The Spaniard turned his back on the ball before Justin Kluivert scored and Scholes, working as a pundit, labelled the action as unforgivable from a top-level goalkeeper:

“David De Gea here, he bottles it. He’s scared of getting himself hurt. It should never go across the box like that ever. Harry Maguire looks wooden, he’s very stiff. De Gea, as a goalkeeper, come out, make yourself as big as you can – you might get smashed in the face, but he turns his back away. He actually makes himself smaller. It’s criminal for such an experienced goalkeeper. It’s criminal.”

It certainly wasn’t good goalkeeping from De Gea and it will leave many United supporters questioning whether he deserves to stay as the club’s number one.

Dean Henderson has not let anyone down when he has been called upon this season and, although it would be a big call to make by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the 23-year-old would certainly merit a start in the Manchester derby this weekend.

Dropping De Gea for such a huge game would certainly damage the Spaniard’s confidence but, after another poor showing against Leipzig, you have to wonder how long it will be before he is taken out of the team.
