Manchester United have revived their interest in Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier, according to The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell.
The journalist claims a move for the England international could happen if Diogo Dalot joins Borussia Dortmund on loan:
Manchester United reopen talks for Kieran Trippier after Borussia Dortmund loan bid. But sources say still likeliest that Dalot stays (which would mean no move for Trippier).

As Whitwell says, a deal is still unlikely, and most fans on Twitter would prefer United not to sign Trippier before the transfer window closes:
It keeps getting worse

Why spend money on a back up rb instead of a dm
— V4RANE (@Varaneszn_) August 27, 2021
Just keep Dalot and try to offload lingard so we can sign a true DM

United have been after Trippier since January so it is not surprising that they have re-entered talks to snap up the former Tottenham player.
Arsenal have also been linked with the 30-year-old but most journalists believe that the fullback would prefer a move to Old Trafford if he had a choice.
The main obstacle to any deal going ahead is the asking price, with Atletico said to be asking for around €40m (£34m) to €60m (£51m). However the La Liga champions are trying to sign Lille right-back Zeki Celik so if they snap up the Turkish international, they could soften their stance on Trippier.
