Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is adamant that the Red Devils are still in the title race despite drawing 1-1 against relegation battlers West Brom yesterday.
After dropping two points at the Hawthorns, United now trail league leaders Manchester City by seven, having also played a game more, but when asked whether they remain a title contender, Maguire replied:
“Of course we are. We have to look at ourselves and go again, win the next one and the next one.”
A few weeks ago, fans were optimistic about challenging but recent results have dampened expectations and the response to Maguire’s comments on Twitter has been overwhelmingly negative:
is this guy crazy?

It must be said that things can change very quickly in football. United face City at the Etihad Stadium at the beginning of March and if they can close the gap slightly before that match, a win against their old rivals could reignite their title ambitions.
As Maguire says, though, at this moment in time, the focus has to be simply winning the next game and seeing where it will take them.
