Manchester United fans are in for some massive lot changes as Mourinho is planning on taking full advantage of the £220million budget rumored to have been provided by the club’s management. Aside from that, some income might come from selling some of the players that have either failed to adapt or are looking for a change in scenery. Basically, Mourinho should be able to transfer any player he wants as long as he manages to convince them to join United. Even so, money should be well spent in order to avoid any situations similar to those that helped LVG get sacked. He spent a lot of money but with no big results. With that in mind, is Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez really worth £50Million? That’s close to what Pogba is worth or what Aubameyang could cost.
According to Metro, Mourinho is very keen on making the young Champions League finalist one of his first signings, a signing that will go perfectly next to the young players promoted by van Gaal. Saul is just 21 and has made himself noticed in the Champions League where he scored a great goal against Bayern Munich. That isn’t enough though to place him in the same league as Higuain or Griezmann. Or is it? Martial was unknown when he joined United so why not take the same leap with Saul? Well, mostly because transfers like that of Martial happen once every decade. Atletico’s midfielder is good but is he that good so as to spend a quarter of the club’s transfer budget on him?
For £50Million Manchester United could bring in someone like Isco or like James Rodriguez. They could sign Reus, Kante, Koke, Kroos, or Veratti. They have a lot more experience and they confirmed their quality during important moments. Even if Saul sells for less than that, where would he fit in? He’s not that dissimilar to Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Herrera or Fellaini. He might have a really tough time becoming part of the starting eleven. It’s another rumour and time will tell if it comes to fruition or not.
