Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez, who is currently out of action with a foot injury, recently underwent surgery to correct the problem – however, it will keep him off the pitch for the remainder of the Premier League season.
He posted pictures of himself after his surgery on Instagram – thankfully, the 2023 World Cup-winning centre-back seems to be in good spirits.
For the post’s caption, Martinez wrote: “Everything went really well, thanks to God! Many thanks for all of your messages. Now focusing on the recovery.”
Currently, Martinez’s post has over 940,000 likes on Instagram. Among those who have liked the post include David De Gea, Facundo Pellestri and England international Jadon Sancho.
Additionally, a few of Martinez’s United teammates wished him well in the comments section, including Diogo Dalot, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.
Martinez’s absence could prove to be costly for United this season – the 25-year-old has arguably been the Red Devils’ best defender in the current campaign.
He signed from Ajax in the summer of 2022 for a reported fee of £49 million, plus an extra £8.5 million in add-ons. His relatively diminutive height initially raised eyebrows, but he has proven to be an effective presence in the air thanks to his deceptive physicality.
