Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been called up by England manager Gareth Southgate for the internationals against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria later this week.
The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan at Sheffield United, has replaced Tom Heaton in the squad after the Aston Villa keeper picked up an injury in his side’s win against Norwich on Saturday.
Supporters on Twitter are delighted by Henderson’s international call up:

Wonder what the future holds for Dean.. deserves to be a starting GK but don’t think he’ll get that here at United.

With David De Gea having been handed a new contract, it does appear unlikely that Henderson will ever be a regular at Old Trafford. He seems to be an ambitious player so the likelihood of him being happy as an understudy is low.
The shot-stopper does have confidence in his own ability, though, and could be prepared to try and displace De Gea, but to develop as a young keeper he needs to be playing and that may have to happen away from United.
