Manchester United are in contention to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to reports in the English media.
Following the news that Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign the England international, it is believed that the Red Devils have retained their interest in the player, along with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Fans on Twitter are, though, rather sceptical about making a move for Bellingham, especially due to his extremely high price tag:
I'd rather spend 100 on de jong

It's pointless to even discuss it as long as the Glazers are in charge. The only way this MIGHT happen is if Sheikh Jassim buys the club and that may or may not happen.

Supporters are probably wise to be wary, considering how things seem to be turning out with Jadon Sancho. Bellingham is clearly very talented but there are legitimate concerns about paying over £100m for a teenager.
The money could be better spent on recruiting a new number nine, which is believed to be manager Erik ten Hag’s top priority for the summer transfer window. Of course, the club’s budget could increase if there are new owners so it’s probably best to put any talk about an offer for Bellingham on the back burner until takeover talks have reached their conclusion
