Ibrahimovic: Pogba will improve next season

Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has insisted Paul Pogba has silenced his critics with his displays at this summer’s World Cup.

Ibra, who now plays in America for LA Galaxy, was team-mates with Pogba for two seasons at United and knows all too well about the mixed reviews the Frenchman has had during his time at the club.

Pogba has often been criticised for his lack of consistency, and was dropped on several occasions last season by manager Jose Mourinho.

However, the 25-year-old was one of the star performers at the World Cup, scoring in the final as France lifted the trophy after beating Croatia 4-2.

And Ibrahimovic says the midfielder will build on his solid displays next season.

“I played with him for two years and people like to give their opinion, which they have the right to do,” said the Swede.

“They judge but I think the result speaks for itself.”

“You don’t need to answer by your mouth, you can answer by your feet, and do what you are good at. That is the way it is supposed to be and the way I like to do it.

“He is young. He won the World Cup, he was in the Champions League final (with Juventus), the Europa League final (with United), the European (Championship) final (with France) – and he won many titles at Juventus.

“What more is there to say? Just enjoy the games and I know he will become better.”
