“I Don’t Think He’s Aggressive Enough” Paul Scholes Singles Out United Star For Criticism After Everton Draw

“I Don’t Think He’s Aggressive Enough” Paul Scholes Singles Out United Star For Criticism After Everton Draw

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has criticised Victor Lindelof after the Red Devils conceded three goals in the draw against Everton last night.

The Swedish defender has been Harry Maguire’s regular centre-back partner this season but Scholes says the 26-year-old doesn’t have the speed or aggression required to play alongside the club captain:

“I still have question marks against Lindelof. I always will. I don’t think he’s quick enough to play alongside Maguire, I don’t think he’s aggressive enough.”

Lindelof is certainly not a fan favourite, and a large number of supporters would like to see Eric Bailly partnered with Maguire, mainly because they feel he possesses the traits that Scholes says are lacking in the current centre-back pairing.

Whether the Ivorian international would be a long-term solution to the club’s defensive problems, though, it is up for debate. His injury record means he cannot be relied upon so a move for a player like RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano may well be considered in the summer.

The France international is reportedly being tracked by the Red Devils, with the defender having a release clause which comes into effect at the end of the season.
