Manchester United are weighing up a loan move for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, according to reports in the English media.
The Red Devils are looking at potential short-term solutions if they can’t sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho before the transfer window closes, and they are now seriously looking at signing the Wales international on a temporary basis.
For many fans on Twitter, it feels like a time warp to three years ago when Bale was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, and many now feel the player is over the hill:

If we buy Bale, I'm cancelling my membership and will stop buying any merchandise. This is becoming a joke.

Real are said to be keen to offload the Welshman on a permanent deal, with some reports suggesting they would sell him for €20m but United are only interested in signing the player on loan.
It looks like a similar deal to the one that saw United snap up Odion Ighalo last January and it is certainly not what fans would have been hoping for, considering they were expecting Sancho to sign instead.
