Manchester United fans have slammed their side for their performance in Sevilla on Wednesday night.
Jose Mourinho’s side put on another drab performance in the Champions League last-16, seeing out an uneventful 0-0 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.
The pressure was on the Red Devils following their English counterparts brilliant results in at the same stage over the past week.
Spurs held Juventus, City thrashed FC Basel, Liverpool too FC Porto and Chelsea pulled off an astonishing draw against Barcelona. But United were unable to live up to the expectations set before them.
In a game of few chances for United – Romelu Lukaku spurned the best chance of the game early on – Sevilla dominated throughout, registering 25 shots on goal in comparison to United’s six, only one of which was on target.
And had it not been for the combination of heroics (again) of David De Gea and some poor finishing from a struggling Sevilla side, Mourinho and Co’ would have been heading back to England with their tails firmly between their legs.
Fortunately, they didn’t, and with all to play for in the second leg at Old Trafford, they could find their reprieve yet.
But their performance hasn’t escaped the critics.
Former England international Ian Wright said the fan’s should be “disgusted” with what they saw on Wednesday night, while ex-Germany star Didi Hamann described Mourinho’s approach to the game as “anti-football”.
And while it may pain them to concur with a former Gunner and a former Liverpool star, the United fans seem to be in agreement …

Being a Man United fan now must be like visiting Disneyland as an adult.
1) It costs loads of money
2) It was more exciting when you were a kid

Why do commentators after shocking dull games like that say "Job done for Man United" I've never heard these channels say, "Waste two hours watching Man United doing a routine job on Wednesday." #SEVMUN

There's been no difference whatsoever regarding a frustrating @Alexis_Sanchez. Done nothing all game, only scored 1 goal since signing which was a lucky penalty. Seems like going to Man United hasn't gone as well as he's hoped. Oh well United your problem now… #SEVMUN

I’ve a bit of a dilemma, I’ve just painted my kitchen and the Man United Sevilla game is on this evening. The paint won’t dry properly unless I watch it right?
