“He’s Ten Hag’s Type…” Scholes Backs United To Make Bid For 17 Goal South American Star

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes his former club may consider targeting Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez this summer.

The Red Devils are expected to be in the market for a new number nine. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic are the three names that have been regularly mentioned but Scholes thinks Martinez would be a better fit for Erik ten Hag’s style of play:

“I like Lautaro Martinez at Inter Milan. I think he’s Ten Hag’s type of player. He likes a centre-forward who will run about, be aggressive, get against people.”

Martinez has been in good form this season, racking up 17 goals in 37 appearances. He has been regularly linked with moves to the Premier League over the past couple of years, with Arsenal and Tottenham, in particular, having been mentioned as suitors.

Inter do need to raise funds through player sales to balance the books. It has been reported that they have a €50m (£44m) hole in their budget so they could be prepared to sell Martinez for a reasonable price. With that being the case, he could be a cheaper option than either Osimhen or Kane.
