Garth Crooks chose Crystal Palace fullback Aaron Wan-Bissaka in his team of the week following his performance in the 1-0 win over Newcastle last weekend.
In addition to praising the 21-year-old’s performance, the TV pundit also said that he thinks Manchester United should go after him in the summer:
“I’ve gone for my young player of the season, Aaron Wan-Bissaka. He was superb yet again against Newcastle. This fabulous talent has not looked back since his Premier League debut at Fulham at the start of the season. This kid is a must for Manchester United.”
Supporters on social media were mostly in agreement with the comments, with some saying that it was the most sensible thing Crooks has said for a while:
Hes right about something for once.

He is the first choice RB target.

We should make contact now and try to finalise deals before window opens for once. Get all players in for a full pre season.

Obviously I would normally ignore anything Crooks said but he may be right about this.

A couple of fans are not quite as sure:

Would rather sign an older rb so @DalotDiogo can replace in the future

Multiple reports have linked United with a move for Wan-Bissaka but considering the Red Devils already have a young right-back in Diogo Dalot, there have to be question marks over whether it is a priority signing.
With Matteo Darmian expected to leave in the summer, the squad is arguably weaker at left-back with Luke Shaw not having an obvious understudy. Ashley Young could perhaps be used as backup in that role with Wan-Bissaka competing with Dalot on the right-hand side.
