Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that his side were “sloppy” in their 1-1 draw against Club Brugge in the Europa League. One of the main culprits last night was Diogo Dalot.
The Portuguese did not offer anything going forward, and was also pretty poor defensively, leaving many fans on Twitter to question whether the 20-year-old will develop into a top-class defender:
he's not really that good at anything only popular by some fans for the pen at PSG

For Dalot, I think he needs to play a bit forward. He's never convinced me with his defending

He's a squad player at best to be honest. Useful player to have around but doubt he will ever have the quality to be a regular starter

Some of the criticism of Dalot is pretty harsh considering the Portuguese has been ravaged by injuries during his eighteen months at Old Trafford.
This season alone, the right-back has had hip and groin problems which have restricted him to just nine appearances in all competitions. It was only his fifth start of the campaign yesterday, with his last coming against Tranmere in the FA Cup almost a month ago.
Some ring-rustiness was only to be expected but supporters will now be hoping that Dalot stays fit and manages to recover his form in the coming weeks.
