Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford will have surgery on a shoulder injury, the club have confirmed.
The 23-year-old has been struggling with the issue since tearing a muscle in November and the decision has finally been taken to have the operation.
Supporters on Twitter are hoping that, when Rashford returns, he will be firing on all cylinders once again, although some have questioned why the decision wasn’t made earlier:
when he comes back he’ll be like a new signing on the LW can’t wait pic.twitter.com/gerkAiux9d

Great a decision was finally made.
Taking the surgery is not straightforward as people made it to be. They are surgeon not magician which is why I think it get delayed till this moment in order to think over their options.— @othman (@un_botheredman) July 30, 2021
Shouldn’t have gone Euros to be benched. Should have pulled out and did his surgery so he could have been ready for United

Rashford is expected to miss at least 12 weeks so it is likely that fans won’t see him in action again until the start of November.
The England international is, therefore, expected to be absent for the matches against Everton, Leicester, West Ham and Liverpool, while he could also miss games versus Tottenham and Manchester City.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer certainly has the options to replace Rashford, with the likes of Anthony Martial, Daniel James and Amad Diallo all capable of playing from the left wing.
