Manchester United legend Roy Keane sparked off a debate after questioning whether Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen would improve the Red Devils’ squad.
While his former teammate Gary Neville was insistent that the Danish international would add something to the team, Keane was not convinced. The Irishman suggested that the playmaker could end up as another poor piece of business by comparing him to Fred:
“I think he will get a move, he’s on a free. But I don’t think he’d improve those teams and that’s the key for a club like Manchester United who are trying to close the gap. He won’t make Man United better, but having said that, Man United bought Fred.”
The majority of supporters on Twitter disagree with Keane’s opinion on Eriksen:
He’d definitely improve United.

Absolute nonsense to think Eriksen wouldn't improve the team, our current 10 options are Pereira, Lingard, Mata, Gomes ?
I like Pereira/Gomes, but right now Eriksen is clearly better!
The only debate is whether to go for either Eriksen or Maddison, and if we CAN get either ?

Eriksen is better than lingard mata pereira but his attitude recently isn't great and not what we need currently would prefer maddison

How is Eriksen not an improvement on Lingard or Pereira but I think he's tired of the premier league and wants to move abroad.

This is why he doesn't have a coaching job

Eriksen is just 27, still has a lot of years to give .. especially if he comes cheap or free

United were linked with the Spurs star in the summer, but it is believed that the Dane was keener on moving to Real Madrid. However, with the La Liga club seemingly no longer interested in the 27-year-old, a potential switch to United is back on the cards.
Eriksen is out of contract at the end of the season, and he could well be on his way in January if Tottenham look to cash in on the player before he leaves on a free transfer.
