Manchester United fans were furious after their 3-0 loss against Sevilla in the Europa League – and rightly so. Many of the Red Devils fans blamed the loss on one of their key players – none other than David De Gea.
Some fans were more sympathetic towards the Spanish shot-stopper, labelling attempts to deride him as nothing more than a ‘witch hunt’.
Others, however, were not. They implored Erik Ten Hag to move De Gea on in the summer, declaring his Manchester United career ‘finished’. Nonetheless, here’s what the fans had to say on social media.
I still stand by this statement to this day – De Gea’s ability to save things he shouldn’t blinds people to the fact he doesn’t save the things he should

He rejected our contract offer of £200k pw and we’re still negotiating.
Let him go. No excuse, he has to go.

If Ten Hag renews De Gea’s contract then I’m Ten Hag Out I’m sorry.

Price of not having a British Passport….All I've seen and heard this morning is anti De Gea. Yes he had a bad game but this is just a witch hunt. https://t.co/dJbtT5OlJs

Would be a miracle if United get top 4 with David de Gea and Harry Maguire in the defence

Poor David De Gea man. I don’t know where Manchester United would be without him

De Gea wasn’t the only player who received flak from the fans – Harry Maguire was also mercilessly targeted, after he gave the ball away for Sevilla’s first goal.
In the game against Los Nervionenses, United went 1-0 down in the 8th minute after a calamitous mix-up from De Gea and Maguire – possession was squandered and Youssef En-Nesyri was happy to capitalise.
Things went from bad to worse in the second half. Loic Bade scored a brilliant header just after half-time, with En-Nesyri adding a third for the Spaniards and completing their dominant rout over the Mancunians.
