Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped from the squad for the game against Chelsea this weekend, the club have confirmed.
The Portuguese international was pictured leaving the bench before the end of the 2-0 win versus Tottenham on Wednesday night. He was reportedly unhappy after he wasn’t even used as a substitute by Erik ten Hag.
It appears that his manager has taken a dim view of his actions, and fans on Twitter are very much behind the decision to exclude Ronaldo from the trip to Stamford Bridge:
He had it coming

Sad for CR7 but the club must forge ahead and enforce discipline…
We cannot have players thinking they are bigger than the club— Xarelto (@_Rivaroxaban) October 20, 2022
This is the second time he'd left the game before it's over. He's deserves any punishment from the club or manger.

Everyone must toe the line, no rule for us, and rule for them, all players are equal and all players must show respect to the badge

This guy is bringing bad aura into the team, just when we’re about to have a good week

As the old saying goes, no player is bigger than the club, not even one as famous as Ronaldo. United performed extremely well against Spurs without the 37-year-old, justifying ten Hag’s decision to omit him from the team.
It did show a lack of professionalism on Ronaldo’s part when he decided to walk down the tunnel. Whether there is a way back for him at the club, we shall have to wait and see.
