France international Antoine Griezmann says that Manchester United are “the perfect club” for Paul Pogba. Griezmann is one of the world’s most highly rated players and has long been touted for a move to United himself, but the forward has this week shown his support for his fellow international’s world record move back to Old Trafford.

Pogba joined United for a world-record £89million fee and made his return in a United shirt against Southampton on Friday night. Griezmann, who tweeted prior to the Southampton game about his excitement to see Pogba at United, said he expects the 23-year-old to flourish in the Premier League.

“I think the supporters in England won’t be disappointed,” Griezmann told the Guardian .

“They can expect the spectacular from Paul. He deserves it, he works hard and he has the talent to be such an important player. He loves that league. Manchester [United] is the perfect club for him, with Mourinho they are making something new.”

Griezmann has been prolific for club and country for the past few years and scored 39 goals in all competitions last season. He says he models himself on David Beckham, and has refused to rule out a move to the Premier League.

“I liked him a lot, he was my idol, that’s why I wear a long-sleeved jersey and wear the number seven. Why not [move to England]? If I am out of contract with Atletico I would ask myself that question.”
