Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that contract talks with David de Gea and Anthony Martial are progressing well.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Arsenal game, the Norwegian said he anticipates developments in the near future:
“I think the club’s making progress but I leave that to the right people to do that. I don’t know really how far we are away from it, but hopefully, we’re going to have some good news in the coming weeks.”
Supporters on Twitter are happy to hear that the duo could be extending their stays at Old Trafford:
Great news. Add Herrera and Pogba extensions next. We’re sorted.

De Gea’s current deal expires in 18 months’ time but the club have always been optimistic that the Spaniard would sign on for longer.
Martial’s case is somewhat different. The Frenchman’s agent has spoken publicly a number of times about his client leaving Manchester, with the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal having been linked.
However, his increased game time this season and the club’s keenness to secure him for the long-term seem to have won him over. The 23-year-old’s current deal expires in 2020 after United triggered their option to extend his contract for a further year back in December.
