“Got A Couple Of Calls” Reporter Reveals Polish Star’s Agent Has Fielded Enquiries From United And Liverpool

Manchester United and Liverpool have contacted Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski’s representatives, according to Corriere del Mezzogiorno journalist Ciro Troise.

The Polish international has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent weeks, including Arsenal and Manchester City, but Troise says that despite fielding enquiries from United, no official bid was made.

“If you ask for 65 million euros for Fabian Ruiz, you are out of your mind. Zielinski? His entourage has got a couple of calls from Liverpool and Manchester United, but I have a hard time thinking about high-figure fees [being received for the player]. Concrete offers for these two players have not arrived.”

Zielinski has been at Napoli for the last five years, having racked up 32 goals and provided 28 assists in 239 appearances for the Serie A side.

The 27-year-old could have been targeted as a potential alternative to Wolves’ Ruben Neves or Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez. Both players have been mentioned in reports recently, and it does appear as though manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in a central midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Zielinski would be suited to playing in a more advanced role but it is believed Solskjaer is weighing up a change in formation to play two attack-minded players in the middle of the park so the Napoli star would definitely fit the bill.
