Inter Milan are weighing up a January move for Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia, according to reports in Italy.
The Ecuadorian international’s current deal expires in the summer and the Red Devils do have the option to extend his contract for another year.
However, Valencia has seen his playing time reduced this season, and the club may be open to letting the 33-year-old leave.
Fans on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the story with some saying they would be sorry to see a great servant of the club go, while others feel it is time for him to move on:
Best wishes Antonio, U’ve been a good servant for the club

I think he has past his sell on date, tbh. He was slow vs #NUFC last night he made Ashley Young look like Roberto Carlos in his hay days. Yeah, I think #MUFC should move him on at the end of the season.

I’m sorry but that’s ridiculous he’s been at club for 10 years just about and been a great servant to the club, how are we letting him just walk out for free

Not getting on his back. Good servant over the years – been overplayed for at least 2 seasons which was not his fault. Hopefully Dalot can grab the opportunity.

Loyal servant but was always a one trick pony

If he does go, I wish him all the best and a big thank you for all the years of service. He got converted to a right back from a right winger, never once grumbled.

Valencia has been at the club nine and a half years, playing under five different managers during that time. After arriving as a right-winger, he has adapted his game to be a fullback in recent years.
He captained United in the Europa League final win against Ajax in 2017 and was made the official club captain after Michael Carrick’s retirement at the start of this season.
