Manchester United are weighing up an approach for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports in Italy.
The 20-year-old could cost as much as €60m (£53m) with the Italian international being lined up as a possible replacement for David De Gea.
A lot of fans on Twitter think Donnarumma has the quality to be United’s number one:
Good choice.
Da gea has been number 1 in shot stopping and positioning.
Apart from that, he is awful in penalties, average in passing, and is not an imposing figure.
I would be happy with someone like gigi donnarumma.— shrey (@ManUtd1800) 1 June 2019
Make it happen

Would be a good signing as a replacement for De Gea if he leaves.

Smart move if it goes through

Some, though, think it would be better to keep faith with Sergio Romero or Dean Henderson if De Gea does leave the club:
just stick with Dean Henderson

only keeper worth signing to replace the best ever keeper. otherwise, romero for a season, focus on outfield holes in the squad and bring back henderson to be #1 after a season in the prem if he has a season as good as last season in the championship.

We’ve got Henderson, donnaruma will be another player with wrong mentality

Even if De Gea goes I’m fine with Romero for a season or just promote Henderson until we figure out which huge keeper signing to make.

Considering that Chelsea spent £72m on Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao, and Liverpool signed Alisson Becker from Roma for £67m, £53m does seem a pretty reasonable figure in the current transfer market.
Still, there are question marks over Donnarumma’s ability at the top level. Filling De Gea’s shoes would be tough for any keeper, and the Italian would need to have the right mentality to handle the pressure if he moved to Old Trafford.
