Giggs identifies two signings United should make

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has identified two potential signings Jose Mourinho should make in order to challenge for the title next season.

United finished second in the Premier League last season, but were way off the mark as rivals City ran riot in the division. It means Mourinho has a lot of work to do over the summer in order for his men to challenge next season, including bringing in some fresh faces to the squad.

The Red Devils have already agreed to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth £52million, as well as Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot. However, more signings have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with the likes of Willian, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Toby Alderweireld often being touted to be on Mourinho’s radar.

And Giggs believes his former side are on the right track to Premier League glory, but wants Jose Mourinho to think about signing an attacking midfielder and a centre half.

“In midfield I’d like to see [an attacking midfielder] – we’ve been saying it for a long time, we thought [Paul] Pogba would be that attacking midfielder I would like to see,” he said, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

“They don’t grow on trees unfortunately, a [Luka] Modric, a [Toni] Kroos type who can keep the ball.

“Also I think a centre half we need. All the successful United teams over the years – [Gary] Pallister, [Steve] Bruce, Jaap Stam, [Rio] Ferdinand, [Nemanja] Vidic – they’ve always had top class centre halves.

“Again, they don’t grow on trees. Who do we get, I don’t know, but I think a midfielder and centre half are vital.”
