Manchester United are one of four clubs who have “recently enquired” about signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria during the January transfer window, according to Jonathan Shrager.
The freelance journalist, who is a bit hit and miss when it comes to reliability, claims that the Red Devils have joined Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in pursuing the 25-year-old:
I am told that Manchester United, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have all recently enquired about the possibility of signing Denis Zakaria in January

Zakaria is out of contract at the end of the season, and reports have suggested he could be available for only €7m (£5.9m) this month. Supporters on Twitter are very much behind the move:
Get this kid!!!

Rangnick doing his magic, us looking at Bundesliga midfielders was inevitable.

Talented, injury prone and has a massive concentration problem. For 6M he is indeed a good temporary solution for the starting 11.

Wow. Bring it on!
MUFC needs a proper DM for years now, same ol’ conversation— Ayo Kanmi (@3DHombreezle) January 3, 2022
Manager Ralf Rangnick will know Zakaria well from his time in Germany and, with United needing to strengthen their midfield, the Swiss international could be a decent short-term fix.
Whether United will win the race for the player’s signature, we shall have to wait and see. In addition to the three other clubs mentioned by Shrager, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Roma have also been mentioned as possible destinations in recent weeks.
