Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has signed a four-year contract extension to stay at Old Trafford, the club have announced.
The Frenchman’s current deal was due to expire in 2020, but he has now been tied down by the club until 2024.
Martial says he is delighted to be staying put and has credited caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for instilling confidence in his abilities:
“I am loving my time at this club. From the day I joined I have been made to feel part of the United family and I have been incredibly humbled and overwhelmed by the warmth and love of our fans, who continue to amaze me with their support.”
“I would like to thank Ole and his coaching staff for their belief in me and for helping me to take my game to the next level.”
Fans on Twitter are very happy that the 23-year-old has signed on the dotted line:

I've been waiting for this tweet for ages. Now it's time to tie up David de Gea for another long term contract. Huge steps in the right direction for the club. I love it. ✍️???

Since Ole has came in, he’s turned around our form, got rid of Fellaini and now has got Martial to agree to a new contract, give him the job already #MUFC

Prior to Solskjaer’s arrival at the club, Martial looked destined for the exit door with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea all said to have been interested in the striker.
The France international has, however, clearly demonstrated his commitment to the club for the long-term, keeping him in Manchester until he turns 28 at least.
Since joining from Monaco in 2015, Martial has gone on to make 162 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 46 goals during that time.
