Manchester United fans have called for manager Jose Mourinho to leave the club after his side’s defeat to Tottenham in mid-week.
United slipped to a 2-0 loss at Wembley, with a Christian Eriksen strike and an own-goal from defender Phil Jones sealing the visitors fourth defeat of the Premier League season.
United remain in second place after the loss, however slipped to 15 points behind leaders and rivals Manchester City – who are looking like runaway champions already.
While the defeat at Spurs may not have been such a huge shock given their form as of late, what has come of concern to the United fans is their sides – or at least Mourinho’s – record against those sides in and around them in the league.
The Portuguese manager boasts a poor record against the remaining members of Prem’s supposed ‘big six’ – City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs – in the nine games he has played against them since taking over as United boss in 2016.
Of those nine top flight games against their ‘rival clubs’, Mourinho’s side have won just once – against arguably the weaker of the bunch, Arsenal – while have drawn three and lost five.
In those fixtures, United have also been outscored by a total of 12-4.
While not all of the blame can go on Mourinho, the fans feel it is time the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss stood up and took the blame for his sides shortcomings in the games that matter the most …
