Gary Neville Writes Off £207M Worth Of Talent As He Lists The Four Positions That United Must Strengthen

Ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville has backed his former club to strengthen the first-team squad in four different areas.

When asked on Twitter what positions he would like to see prioritised in the summer transfer window, Neville replied:

Considering the likes of David De Gea (£19m), Harry Maguire (£80m), Anthony Martial (£58m) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£50m) currently play in those roles, it appears Neville wants United to replace £207m worth of talent.

In terms of the goalkeeper situation, reports suggest that manager Erik ten Hag would like to bring in someone who is better with his feet than De Gea but it is not thought to be the number one priority.

Selling Maguire does seem to be on the cards, though, with Monaco’s Axel Disasi having been mentioned as a possible signing to replace the current club captain.

Recruiting a striker seems to be the primary focus for ten Hag, with the likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund being looked at.

With regards to replacing Wan-Bissaka, it is believed that Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is the main target.
