Gary Neville says he’d ‘love’ to see Real Madrid star at Old Trafford

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has said he would ‘love’ to see Gareth Bale at Old Trafford next season.

The Welshman has been heavily linked with a move to United in recent seasons, with manager Jose Mourinho understood to be a huge admirer.

And those rumours have intensified following the Champions League final.

Bale scored twice as Madrid swept aside Liverpool 3-1 last week in Kiev, however the former Spurs man revealed in a post-match interview that he will be discussing his future at the Bernabeu in the near future with his agent.

While it remains to be seen whether Bale will leave Madrid this summer, Neville believes the Wales international would be a brilliant acquisition for his former side.

“I’ve got a lot of admiration for him as a player,” Neville told BBC Radio Manchester. “I’d like to see (Lionel) Messi play for United or (Cristiano) Ronaldo or Neymar or all these players, but the reality is they’ve got to want to come to the club.

“That’s the first question that needs to be asked.

“If he wants to come to United then absolutely, yes, because he’s a fantastic player and he is a game changer.

“For me every top club is looking for that player who is the difference who can turn the big games.”
