Gary Neville Delivers Verdict On Whether Donny Van De Beek Will Be At United Next Season

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville firmly believes that Donny van de Beek will be staying at Old Trafford this summer despite struggling to make an impact during his first season at the club.

The Dutchman has made just two league starts, scoring one goal and providing only one assist, but Neville thinks the 24-year-old is likely to remain with the Red Devils, while claiming at least three of his teammates could leave instead:

“I think Juan Mata has done fantastically well for the club but I think he’ll leave. I think they can get good money for Daniel James, but again, he could go somewhere else and they can get good money for him. There’s a feeling that Jesse Lingard, he’s done really well at West Ham, but I think Ole will say no, he can explore and go elsewhere. Van de Beek has to stay, in my opinion.”

Many feel that van de Beek has not really been given the chance by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to show what he can do. He has not been handed a run in the side at any point this season, and he has been played in a number of different positions.

The Netherlands international’s future could well hinge on his teammate Paul Pogba’s contract situation. The Frenchman will have one year remaining on his current deal at the end of the season, and if he does leave, it would open up space in the squad.
