Gabriel Marcotti Reveals United Are In Hot Pursuit Of Portugal U21 Star As Talks Are Held With Agent

ESPN reporter Gabriel Marcotti has revealed that Manchester United are keen on signing Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis when the transfer window opens.

The Italian journalist says that representatives from the Red Devils actually met with the 20-year-old’s agent Bruno Carvalho Santos back in January, but there are believed to be a number of other terms after the player.

In addition to United, AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Betis and even Leeds United have all been looking at Florentino ahead of the summer.

Benfica are reportedly prepared to let the Portuguese Under 21 international leave on loan ahead of the start of next season, on the proviso that any deal includes an option to buy.

Florentino has only made 15 appearances this season and his lack of game time means he is open to leaving the Estadio Da Luz. Whether United will follow up their interest in the player with a formal offer, we shall have to wait and see.
