Fred opens up about United life

Manchester United midfielder Fred has expressed his delight at joining a club of this stature, saying that he has aspirations to win the Champions League.

The Brazilian was United’s only real major signing in the summer, having joined for a fee of £52m plus bonuses on a five-year deal.

He has started both of United’s opening Premier League games this season, putting in good performances as he continues to adapt to English football.

Fred has heaped praise on manager Jose Mourinho, saying he is a ‘great person’, and also revealed which star is helping him settle in at United.

“I’m really happy to be working with Jose Mourinho he’s a great person and he’s always keen to communicate with the squad and help people to be communicative regarding what they’re to do on the pitch,” he told Sky Sports.

“I’m really happy to be working with him and I hope that I’ll be working for him for a while to come.

“There are lots of Brazilians in the Premier League but most are playing against us.

“Here I’ve got Andreas (Pereira) who is here at Manchester United, who has helped me a lot and been important to me and, obviously, Jose Mourinho speaks the same language.

“I’ve been adapting here with my team-mates at Manchester United and, yes, this has helped a lot.

“I’ve got lots of objectives in the short term, the league, the Champions League and the domestic cups.

“I want to win these competitions and in the long term i want to win lots of trophies and I want to gain recognition from the fans and I’d love to leave a mark here and I’d love to leave a legacy at Manchester United.”

Fred is slowly but surely becoming a fan favourite at United. Every player in the United shirt had a bad performance against Brighton, but at Leicester the Brazilian looked lively and exciting.
