Four Departure Rumors That Are Unlikely To Come To Fruition

A lot of changes were and still are predicted when it comes to Manchester United. The uneven performances and the overall atmosphere have pointed to several departures at the end of the season. Things are getting better though right now which makes it a good moment to snub some of the rumors circulating over the internet.

  1. Michael Carrick being sold to a Premier League Rival – Apparently this will not happen as Carrick was just offered a 12-month extension. The 34-year-old midfielder who has been playing for Manchester United for almost a decade, has made 23 appearances for LVG this season and is expected to stick around for one more year. Even if he will not be a first choice for the starting eleven he will still be able to help the team a lot given the fact that Schneiderlin is the only defensive minded midfielder currently available in the lot. Sure, you still have Fellaini and Schweinsteiger but they are not as reliable as the veteran Carrick.
  2. Juan Mata to Barcelona – there are rumors that say Barcelona is interested in bringing in Juan Mata, possibly to replace Iniesta. According to the Daily Mail there has been initial discussions between Mata’s people and the club. The player’s agent however has dismissed any possibility of such a move as Mata is quite happy with the way things are going at old Trafford. Mata has made 34 appearances this season and has scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists.
  3. Ryan Giggs leaving to manage Celtic – again, something that will not happen too soon. Giggs is and will always be a Manchester United man. He now has the chance to learn and get more and more involved within the club. It`s hard to believe we will be seeing United’s assistant coach taking on a new role with any other team.
  4. Ander Herrera leaving for Argentina – this rumor started after the midfielder told the press that Boca is his one of his preferred destinations, after he leaves United. Things were exaggerated though and people started saying he wants to leave for Argentina. That is not an option for the 26-year-old who is under contract with Manchester until 2018 and he seems very happy in England.
