Florian Wirtz’s Transfer Plan Confirmed As United Consider 60M Approach

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller believes Florian Wirtz intends to stay at the Bundesliga club “for a few more years”.

Manchester United were linked with a £60m offer for the teenager at the weekend, while the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have also been mentioned as potential suitors. However, Voller claims the player is going nowhere, for the time being at least:

“Due to his contractual situation and the trust we have built in him and his family, we know that he will be in good hands here for a few more years. At some point, maybe that day will come and this club will be too small for Florian, similar to Kai Havertz. But that will still take a while. My wish is that Florian will stay with us for a few more years. That is important for us and for the whole of the Bundesliga and I think it’s his plan too.”

Wirtz has been one of the standout performers in Europe this season, racking up eight goals and 11 assists in 21 appearances for Leverkusen in all competitions.

It would be a surprise if the Red Devils weren’t tracking the 18-year-old’s progress but the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as manager has added to the speculation.

As Wirtz plays most of his football as a number 10, you would think that United would not make him a priority signing anyway, considering they already have the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek at their disposal.
