Manchester United are “willing to pay” €100m (£89m) for Barcelona winger Ansu Fati, according to Sport. The Catalan publication reports that super-agent Jorge Mendes was acting as an intermediary between United and Barca, with the offer being put on the table.
The newspaper even claims the Red Devils were willing to withdraw from the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho for the deal to go ahead. However, despite Fati being keen on getting more game time, the La Liga club rejected the approach.
Supporters on Twitter are very sceptical about the source of the story:

It would be a huge surprise if the Red Devils were seriously contemplating switching targets away from Sancho to an unproven 17-year-old, who has just 24 senior appearances to his name.
No doubt, Fati has huge potential but the Spanish Under 21 international is by no means the finished article, and for the figures they are talking about, United would certainly want someone with a proven track record.
