FIVE PL Clubs Who Came Out The Biggest Winners From The Summer Transfer Window

With the transfer deadline having now passed for Premier League teams, we have decided to assess who has conducted the most successful business in the market this summer.

Making judgements just after the window has closed is hard, considering we don’t know how each signing will fare over the course of the season.

Even so, it is obvious that some clubs have been able to improve their squads more than others over the last few months.

Press the next page as we name the five biggest winners from the summer transfer window.

5) Aston Villa

The Villans may have lost their talisman in Jack Grealish but they made sure to do most of their transfer business before they sold him to Manchester City for £100m.

Danny Ings has already proven an inspired signing, while the likes of Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey are likely to be shrewd long-term investments.

4) Crystal Palace

The Eagles’ transfer business has gone under the radar somewhat but, after losing so many players on a free transfer in the summer, they have simultaneously lowered the wage bill and reduced the average age of their squad.

Signing Odsonne Edouard from Celtic on deadline day could prove a smart piece of business, while promising youngsters such as Conor Gallagher, Marc Guehi and Michael Olise have also been brought in.

3) Chelsea

The Blues knew that they needed to sign a striker in the summer, and they got their man by snapping up Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan for £97.5m.

On top of that, they managed to secure the loan signing of Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid before the transfer window shut, adding depth in midfield. The only disappointment was the failure to bring in Sevilla’s Jules Kounde as a replacement for Kurt Zouma.

2) Tottenham

The deadly combination of chairman Daniel Levy and former Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has allowed Spurs to both keep hold of Harry Kane, as well as strengthen the squad.

Cristian Romero has been signed to replace Toby Alderweireld, while Emerson Royal arrived from Barcelona to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s options at right-back. Paratici also managed to secure deals for two promising youngsters in Pape Sarr and Bryan Gil.

1) Manchester United

Considering the Red Devils were not known for their competence in making deals happen in past transfer windows, they have pretty much played a blinder this summer.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got his first choice centre-half in Raphael Varane, as well as getting Jadon Sancho for a decent price. They were also very opportunistic to secure the services of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The only negative is that they weren’t able to bring in a midfielder.
