FIVE High Profile Stars You May Be Surprised To Learn Are Out Of Contract This Summer

There does appear to be a trend happening in football in recent years whereby high-profile players are looking to leave clubs at the end of their contracts.

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba looks poised to be another example of that phenomenon this summer, along with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Paulo Dybala.

There are actually a fair few players who look set to move on free transfers, not all of them you will be aware of, and we have come up with a list of five in this post.

Press the next page as we look at some of the stars who are set to be out of contract.

Pascal Gross (Brighton)

The Brighton playmaker has been a key player for the Seagulls over the past five years, having arrived for just £3m from Ingolstadt in the summer of 2017.

However, despite manager Graham Potter having expressed his desire to keep Gross at the Amex Stadium, the 30-year-old appears to be no closer to signing an extension to his current deal which expires in June.

Luka Modric (Real Madrid)

The Croatian international may be 36 years of age but anyone who saw his performance against Chelsea on Tuesday evening will know that the midfielder is far from finished at the highest level.

Modric has said that he is taking his time about making a decision on his future, but Real will be keen to keep him for at least another season based on this week’s evidence.

Andrea Belotti (Torino)

The Italian international has been pretty much linked with every Premier League club over the past few years, including Manchester United, but it appears he will be available on a free transfer this summer.

Belotti has a very decent goal record, 110 goals in 246 appearances for Torino, and the fact that he is still only 28, means there will be plenty of suitors both in Italy and abroad.

Angel Di Maria (Paris Saint-Germain)

The Argentine may have flopped in England with United, but he has been a success at every other team he has played for, including his current club PSG, where he has scored 91 goals ad provided 115 assists in 289 matches.

At 34, Di Maria’s career is winding down and his father has all but confirmed that he will return to play in Argentina before hanging up his boots.

Isco (Real Madrid)

The Spanish attacking midfielder has had a very strange career. He was one of the key players in helping Real secure four Champions League titles in five years, but he has been a peripheral figure at the Bernabeu over the past four seasons.

Despite joining Real all the way back in 2013, Isco is still only 29 years of age, so it will be interesting to see whether he can revive his career at another team.
