Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season.

The Portuguese international is one of eight nominees, with Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Liverpool’s Mo Salah, West Ham’s Tomas Soucek, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Manchester City’s Ruben Dias and Kevin De Bruyne also up for the award.

Fernandes will be a leading contender, considering the pivotal role he has played for the Red Devils in helping them finish second. The 26-year-old scored 18 goals as well as providing 11 assists, the joint-highest this campaign.

City pair Dias and De Bruyne are likely to be Fernandes’s sternest competition for the prize, considering their contribution to the Citizens lifting the Premier League title.
