Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has shown off the results of his fitness regime during lockdown with a photo on Instagram.

With no football in sight, his teammate Bruno Fernandes replied to the post by stating that McTominay may want to focus less on building up his muscles:

“Scottyyyyyy training with the ball is really important, don’t forget that.”

One of the biggest problems for players in the past two months is the inability to work with teammates and be in full contact training.

There is only so much you can do to maintain fitness by yourself, and all eyes will be on the Premier League next week to see if they vote in favour of a return.

It isn’t believed that full contact training will be re-introduced straight away but it is thought that teams of five will be able to work together at Carrington.

With players having been out of action for an extended period of time, some managers have suggested they may need six weeks of full training to get back to pre-postponement levels. If that is the case, restarting before the end of June may be unrealistic.
