Ferdinand Rates United’s Top Four Chances As Rivals Stumble

Ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand still feels that his former club have a chance of finishing in the top four despite their very inconsistent form this season.

Chelsea have been in possession of fourth place for a while but they have been struggling for wins recently, and Ferdinand thinks the Red Devils are still in with a chance of clinching a Champions League spot as a result:

“The target at the moment if to be in the Champions League and United are fortunate there isn’t a team that has really gone on a rich vein of form to cement their place in the top four. So it’s up for grabs.”

United remain six points behind Chelsea in the table following Saturday’s 0-0 home draw against Wolves. Spurs’s win over Manchester City does, however, see them leapfrog Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the table.

However, it must be said that none of the three have been convincing in recent weeks, and Ferdinand is right in saying that his former side do have a chance if they put a run of results together.

Considering how erratic United’s form has been over the course of the campaign, though, that doesn’t seem very likely at the moment.
